Hannah Peterson is an LA based writer and director. She holds an MFA in Film Directing from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and a BA in Screen Studies from the New School. Hannah’s work has been recognized on the festival circuit, and through individual grants and awards.

Hannah’s screenplay The Graduates, was a featured project at IFP’s 2019 No Borders Market, and was selected for the 2019 Sundance Institute Producing Lab. Hannah was also the recipient of the 2019 Tribeca CHANEL Through Her Lens program grant, and was recognized by Filmmaker Magazine as one of 25 new faces of independent film in 2018.

Hannah’s short film, Champ premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and her short East of the River, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2019. Her debut feature film is currently in post-production. Prior to her work as a director, Hannah mentored under filmmakers Sean Baker and Chloé Zhao.
